We have had the benefit of many volunteers and professionals helping to prepare the house for the move. Brian Krueger, Terri Krueger, Mark Baumgartel, Frank Wagner, Jenny Blair, Heidi Hoffman, Alicia Trimble, Judd Bristow, Thorin Peugh, Ginalie Swaim, Bob Miklo, Jayne McGuire, Terry Philips, Bea Day Plumbers, Dave Stepp, Russ Garrett and assistant, and Chambers Electric have all been instrumental. We completely cleared out the basement, saved the furnace and air conditioner for installation at the new location, removed power, water, sewer, and gas, salvaged fencing and basement windows, stored storm windows and screens, removed and stored porch columns and railings, and removed rotten porch floors and stairs. We also made the decision to remove the fireplace mantel and tile surround so that they wouldn't break and then remove the chimney that had already been removed through the roof long ago. We will reinstall the fireplace as a gas fireplace later in the remodel.
Day one of house prep included shrub removal at the porch
Volunteers salvaged brick pavers
Some of the porch team under the bracing to prove it is safe.
Two views of the missing chimney that we will repair later.
Thank you to these volunteers and all of the many others!
